MMWA HOLIDAY LIGHT RECYCLING DRIVE NOVEMBER 15 – JANUARY 15
String holiday lights should be kept out of your MMWA curbside recycling because they are “tanglers” that will choke the recycling equipment but throwing them away isn’t the best option either.
This year participate in MMWA’s holiday light recycling drive, which is designed to prevent thousands of pounds of unused, unwanted, or broken holiday lights from going to the landfill.
Simply drop your broken and unwanted lights at one of our participating locations. Once collected MMWA will take them to Rifkin Scrap Iron and Metal Co. where their parts will be separated and recycled. All proceeds from the holiday light collection will be given to the CAN Council.

Frankenmuth Credit Union’s “Foundation for Our Communities” Awards Grant
Spaulding Township Firefighters Association was recently awarded a Foundation for Our Communities grant in the amount of $11,370.00 from Frankenmuth Credit Union.
Presentation of the award took place at Spaulding Township office on Monday October 6, 2023. Attendees included representatives of Frankenmuth Credit Union Foundation for Our Communities, Edward Masters, Township Supervisor and Thomas Fortier, Fire Chief of Spaulding Township.
Through this grant the township has purchased a 2024 Alweld Marsh Rescue Boat. The township’s fire department works with surrounding area departments through mutual aid agreements to provide emergency services. With this additional rescue equipment the township anticipates a safer and enhanced quality of life due to shortened response times.
Spaulding Township sincerely thanks Frankenmuth Credit Union Foundation for Our Communities for their generosity, and Spaulding Township Firefighters Association for their much appreciated volunteer efforts for the safety and well-being of our community.
