- Residents can apply for energy assistance to help pay for outstanding heating and cooling bills, following the release of $100 million from the bipartisan infrastructure law into the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHeap). This is the first of five $100 million yearly installments into the program. These dollars, combined with American Rescue Plan and regular LiHEAP funds total $8 billion in heating assistance dollars made available in the past 12 months. Spaulding Township is a General Law Township with population of 2,141 residents and 27 square miles of area. Spaulding Township is not a full size township being cut off by the Shiawassee River on the west side. Spaulding Township is the home of the Shiawassee Flats National Wildlife Refuge a 7,300 acre wildlife refuge visited by many people each year; the Township is about 70% rural.
Spaulding Township boasts a volunteer fire department, air conditioned rental hall, well kept park and rental pavilion, and a township run cemetery for its residents. Approximately 95 % of our residents have city water.

Township Board Meeting: The third Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
Cass River Dike Committee: The second Monday at 7:00 p.m.
Flint River Dike Committee: The second Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Planning & Zoning Commission: The first Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
Event & Action Volunteer Committee: The fourth Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
Zoning Board of Appeals: Only meet when petitioned – contact the township office for information
